Lockton Retirement Expands Nationally With Three Key Hires
KANSAS CITY, MO, January 17, 2018 -- Lockton Retirement launched the new year with three key hires, deepening its consulting team in response to another year of significant client growth.
"Client needs have become much more complex," said Pam Popp, president of Lockton retirement services. "Changing regulation, more diverse workforce demographics, and the continued rise of consumer driven benefits have created new human capital challenges for employers. They need advisors who bring new ideas in benefits plan design, investing and risk mitigation to help them create a holistic workforce management strategy."
"Lockton has helped clients manage property and casualty and benefits risks for decades," she said. "Now our retirement practice is rapidly growing to match the delivery in those lines of business. Our combined practices provide clients with comprehensive and complete risk mitigation solutions."
An example of the talent Popp describes, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Matt Beeler brings a combination of insurance, personal wealth management and institutional investment expertise to Lockton's Denver-based Mountain West operations. Most recently an investment solutions representative for Fidelity Investments, Beeler joins as an advisor, focused on growing the retirement consulting business in the Mountain region.
"With the idea of financial wellness front and center for so many clients," said Chuck McDaniel, CEO of Lockton's Mountain West operations. "We specifically wanted someone with Matt's ability to bridge individual and institutional needs."
Lockton Dunning Benefits had similar needs when they hired Deanna Garen as practice leader for retirement services in Dallas. Previously, Garen worked in a variety of strategic planning, product development and client services roles and has a long history of success designing and implementing innovative service programs. She will lead the Dunning team that advises clients on end-to-end retirement plan management.
"We've found it simply isn't enough to be an advisor focused solely on fees, funds and fiduciary best practices," said the CEO of Lockton Dunning Benefits, Bruce Sammis. "Clients want strategic consulting that helps them align their benefits with their business objectives. Deanna knows plans and she understands how to run a business. She speaks our clients' language."
Also focused on business and benefits alignment, Lockton's Hartford, CT, office welcomed Christian Thomas as retirement practice lead for the Northeast. Thomas has more than a decade of experience serving and advising qualified retirement plans. He holds both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA©) designation and a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM©).
"Our business continues to grow across our geography," said Len Gemma, retirement chief operating officer for Lockton's Washington, DC, office. "We wanted to add resources to our existing team and needed someone who could also work with large clients with complex needs. Christian fits the bill because he not only understands investments, plan design and administration, but he also has strong relationships with all of the major players in the retirement plan marketplace."
"We continue to bring onboard seasoned professionals with a proven track record," added Popp. "These latest additions to our team are fine examples of the types of leaders' clients expect."
