MIT's 401k Adds 13 New Global Funds
SAN ANTONIO, TX, October 18, 2005 -- U.S. Global Investors, Inc. (NASDAQ:GROW) announces that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has added all 13 U.S. Global Investors mutual funds to its 401k plan. Among these funds are the Eastern European Fund (EUROX), Global Resources Fund (PSPFX) and China Region Opportunity Fund (USCOX), which earlier this year each received Best in Category Awards for the three-year period from Lipper at the Lipper Fund Awards USA 2005 event.
"Naturally, we are honored that MIT has added our family of funds to its employees' retirement plans," says Frank Holmes, chairman, CEO and CIO of U.S. Global Investors. "With MIT constantly leading the way in new thinking, the addition of these funds to its 401k platform allows it to offer a diverse menu of investment options to its employees.
"Our award-winning funds provide opportunities in unique asset classes like energy, precious metals, emerging markets and China, which should help diversify employees' retirement portfolios," continues Mr. Holmes.
U.S. Global Investors, which manages more than $2.6 billion in assets, continues to see growth in its assets under management as more and more investors, both institutional and retail, consider alternative investments over domestic equities.
"Most 401k plans give employees limited investment choices such as domestic equity and fixed income products. Following MIT's lead, we believe other retirement platforms will broaden their offerings, as they understand the importance of how these asset classes work as part of a diversified portfolio," adds Mr. Holmes.
