MJM401k and Fortress Complete Merger
PHOENIX, AZ, February 27, 2008 -- Phoenix-based MJM401k, LLC and San Ramon, California based Fortress Wealth Management, Inc. have completed an agreement whereby the Defined Contribution Consulting Division of Fortress will be merged with MJM401k.
The two companies have worked together informally for the past several years. Retaining the MJM401k name, the combined firm provides consulting services to some 50 plans, covering over fifteen thousand participants and $600+ million in assets. Joining the MJM401k team as a principal and Chief Investment Officer will be Bud Green, a 401k investment specialist with over 20 years of experience in financial analysis, portfolio management, and retirement plan consulting.
Mike Malone, MJM401k's founder and managing director, said that the merger will significantly add to the firm's core expertise. "In my nearly thirty years in the 401k business, I've had the opportunity to meet many fellow consultants and advisors, and Bud Green is as good as they come. His detailed knowledge and understanding of 401k investment architecture and fund manager evaluation is unparalleled, and we are very fortunate to now officially be working together."
Mr. Green added that now more than ever, companies are looking for proven consulting expertise to help them manage their 401k plan risks. "In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decision in LaRue, ongoing fee lawsuits, turmoil in capital markets, and the everincreasing importance of retirement security, plan sponsors and participants need a prudent fiduciary advisor that can combine both investment expertise and significant depth in compliance & plan design issues. By joining with MJM401k's proven skills and processes in these areas, we have a perfect and logical fit for us to continue to serve our clients going forward."
