Great-West Retirement Services Rolls Out "401k Day" Program
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO, September 3, 2009 - Great-West Retirement Services announced today that it has developed a communications campaign to support "401k Day," an event that encourages employers to set aside some time to remind their workforce of the importance of saving for retirement through their 401k plans. Just as retirement follows work, 401k Day, which marks its 14th year, is held on the first Friday after Labor Day.
"As a leading provider of retirement solutions for employers and workers, we recognize the importance of saving for retirement," said Charlie Nelson, president of Great-West Retirement Services. "One of our goals is to provide our customers with solutions to support their retirement savings needs, and we believe our 401k Day campaign is one more tool to help them."
The Great-West Retirement Services campaign revolves around a special Web site, www.save4retirement.net, which includes the following helpful tools:

Nelson, who also is chairman of the board of directors of The SPARK Institute, said SPARK research shows 73 million people in the United States have a 401k account, and the average account balance at Dec. 31, 2008 was approximately $32,000. Reflecting on this data, he pointed out that "it's critical that our industry take advantage of opportunities like 401k Day to help people understand the importance of saving for their retirement."
