RSM McGladrey Expands its Focus on Retirement Services

    
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, Dec. 15, 2009 -- RSM McGladrey, one of the nation's leading accounting, tax and business consulting firms, recently announced expansion of its focus on retirement plan consulting and administration with the addition of Central Midwest Business Development Director Dick Schmit and National ESOP Business Development Director Victor Aspengren.

"Their combined experience and expertise will be excellent enhancements to our current team, and their proven records of focusing on client needs is aligned with RSM McGladrey's approach to client services."

In his role as business development director, Schmit, who will be based out of RSM McGladrey's Des Moines office, will focus on developing relationships in IA, MN, KS and NE. Schmit has more than 25 years of employee benefit plan experience helping employers and their advisors with an array of retirement plan issues including plan design, compliance and regulatory review. His diverse business development experience with plan sponsors, financial advisors, accountants, insurance agents, recordkeepers, banks and trust departments make him a valuable addition to our team. Schmit received his B.A. from The University of Northern Iowa and his J.D from the University of Iowa College of Law. The depth and breadth of Dick's experience provides clients and their advisors access to a unique combination of expertise in virtually every aspect of implementing and maintaining employee benefit plans.

As ESOP business development director, Aspengren will be based out of the firm's Minneapolis office. Aspengren has been part of the ESOP community for more than ten years and has served as a CEO of an ESOP company. He will be focused on developing relationships nationwide. Aspengren is currently co-chair of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Board of Directors, a member and past chair of the ESOP Association Ownership Culture committee, and a former member of the ESOP Association Board of Directors. Aspengren is also an experienced speaker, having presented during annual meetings for the NCEO and the ESOP Association, as well as ESOP Association chapter meetings across the country.
