PSCA Unveils Comprehensive Communications Campaign
CHICAGO, IL, August 10, 2010 -- The Profit Sharing/401k Council of America (http://psca.org) (PSCA) is proud to introduce the 2010 401k Day campaign, "401k Day... Taking You There." 401k Day an annual comprehensive communication and education strategy campaign designed to help plan sponsors educate their plan participants about the many advantages of participating in an employer-sponsored defined contribution plan.
"PSCA is pleased to present this year's 401k Day campaign as part of an important communications effort that recognizes the importance of the employer-sponsored retirement plan to the retirement future of American workers," said David Wray, President of PSCA. "It's all about helping Americans help themselves to financial success," Wray said.
PSCA strongly believes it is important that companies effectively communicate to their employees and educate them about the importance of saving for retirement. PSCA created 401k Day as an annual event to promote retirement savings education. Each year, PSCA creates an education campaign for plan sponsors to use, free of charge, with their employees. PSCA 401k Day materials can be used alone or in conjunction with materials and campaigns already in place. All of the tools can be accessed on PSCA's special 401k Day website, www.401kday.org.
In 2010, 401k officially falls on September 10, 2010, but plan sponsors are encouraged to celebrate any day of the year that works best for their employees.
2010 401k Day Theme
401k Day... Taking You There is a comprehensive suite of materials based on a GPS/road map theme.
This year's exciting program features communication campaigns targeted to three different generations of workers at different stops on their journey to retirement. The materials can also be targeted based on plan needs, such as a need to increase plan participation or contributions. The themed campaigns are:
- On the Winding Road to Retirement... Let Your 401k Plan Help Get You There. This campaign encourages younger workers to map a course toward their retirement and enroll in their company's 401k plan, increase their contribution to their 401k plan, take control of their savings, and learn about available investment options.
- Map the Course to Your Destination... Steer Your Retirement Account to Get You There. This campaign encourages Generation X workers to ensure their 401k investments are on target to get them where they need to be, shift their asset mix to stay on course, and prepare for detours on their journey toward retirement.
- Maintain Your 401k... Proper Care of Your Retirement Account Will Get You There. This campaign encourages Baby Boomers to check their account balance frequently, work with their 401k plan administrator or a financial advisor, and make sure they are prepared to make their retirement destination.
Each of the three campaigns include a poster, a postcard, an easy-to-print 8.5"x11" flyer, and one or two informative articles. Each of the campaigns can be customized with a company name and logo. Materials for the first two campaigns have been translated into Spanish.
Participant Resources
In addition to the themed materials, PSCA's 401k Day website offers a variety of participant education materials. A Retirement Planning Calculator, an Annual Retirement Checkup, a 401k Glossary, Interactive Games, and a series of informative webcasts will teach plan participants the language of 401k and the basics of saving and investing in a defined contribution plan. Spanish translations of these tools are also available. The website also has a special feature on Roth 401k and how saving in that type of plan differs from a traditional 401k.
The 2010 401k Day program is designed to make participant communication and education easier than ever for plan sponsors. Visit www.401kday.org to download the materials and celebrate 401k Day at your own company today.
PSCA's ongoing commitment to retirement education is made possible through the generous financial support of ADP Retirement Services, Fidelity Investments, The Hartford, Lincoln Financial Group, Principal Financial Group, and Wells Fargo Institutional Retirement and Trust. In addition to these firms, PSCA wishes to thank Write on Target, Inc. for the creation and design of this year's campaign.
